Getting started

How do I get started?

Find your favourite charity by entering all or part of your charity's name in the Everyclick search box. You can choose from nearly 200,000 UK registered charities. Once you have found the information page for the charity you want to support, select that charity and complete the simple sign up process.

We will then put a 'cookie' on your PC so that every time you return to Everyclick to search the web we recognise you and allocate your activity to the charity you have selected.

You do not have to sign up if you would just like to make a donation by credit or debit card.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a text-only string that is entered into the memory of your browser. It enables Everyclick to remember your charity and fundraiser settings every time you return to our site. Without cookies we cannot personalise your Everyclick experience. If you lose or clear your cookies you can reset your settings by signing back in to Everyclick.

Do I have to register to use Everyclick?

No, you can use Everyclick without registering; you will be raising money for all the charities on Everyclick.

Will my profile be visible on the website?

You can choose for your profile to be visible, name only or completely hidden. With name only, other people will only be able to see your name underneath the charity you support. They will not be able to see your fundraiser page.

How do I change my charity?

Make sure you have signed in to Everyclick and that your chosen charity is displayed on the bar below the header and on the homepage. Search for the charity you wish to join and go to the charity's information page. Choose 'select this charity'.

In My Everyclick, ensure that your new charity is stated at the top and that all the required fields are filled in. Then click on 'save my settings' at the bottom of the form.

If you see the 'sign up' button instead, you have not yet completed registration with Everyclick and created your fundraiser profile. Please fill in the form and click 'sign up'.

How do I change my password?

You can change your password by going to My Everyclick using the link to the right of the search box. Then go to Edit my settings tab in My Everyclick.

Do I have to sign in each time?

You don't have to sign in each time you return to Everyclick. You can sign in if you would like to change your details or your charity.

My charity is no longer displayed on the website?

Your charity is no longer displayed as your settings have been cleared. Please sign in to your profile.

How do I add a charity that I want to support if it's not there?

At the bottom of the charity search results page, you will see the question 'Do you want to add your charity?' Follow the 'I want to support it' link.

The link will take you to Charities Trust who is our payment partner. Once you have added the charity's details on the form provided, the details will be validated by Charities Trust and the charity will appear on the Everyclick site in about 7 days. You will receive an email informing you when it's there.

Why do I keep being asked if I want to change my charity?

If you keep seeing the 'clash message' when you enter the site then you need to save a new version of the home page or bookmark. The address that you usually enter the site at contains information about a different charity to the one you are supporting.

Sign in, ensure you are supporting the right charity, and return to the home page by using the Everyclick logo in the top left hand corner of the page. Then save this as your new home page or bookmark.

How much money could this generate for my charity or school?

On average each web search generates approximately £0.01 for your designated charity. The more people use Everyclick, the more money will be raised - there is absolutely no limit.

How do you prevent fraudulent use of Everyclick?

We have extensive fraud protection software. As long as you use Everyclick just as you would any other search engine, there will not be a problem. Fraudulent searches include, but are not limited to, repeated manual clicks, the use of robots or other automated query tools, etc.

Are the search results 'family friendly'?

Yes. However, if you do find any offensive content please report it immediately to: abuse@everyclick.com.

Where do I report offensive content?

If you want to report content in the news or feedback sections on a charity's page, please click on the 'report content' link underneath it.

For other content, please email abuse@everyclick.com and copy the URL of the page from your browser's address bar into the email. We will remove all offensive content as soon as possible.

Everyclick Search

Are the search results as good as the search engine I am using now?

Everyclick is powered by Ask.com so you'll get the same high-quality search results.

How does Everyclick Search work?

Everyclick works just like any other major search engine, but the difference is that you can raise money for your favourite charity.

Revenue is generated by advertisers who pay for sponsored listings within our search results, banner advertising and revenue from commissions paid by retailers who are listed within our shopping search.

Half of Everyclick's revenue is allocated to charity each month. The amount each charity receives is entirely proportional to the amount that their supporters use Everyclick.com.

The more people who use Everyclick, the more money that is raised for charity. It's a great way to give for free.

Can I donate my searches to more than one charity, or not chose a charity at all?

Your fundraising page however can only support one charity at a time, however, you can support as many charities as you like through our donation system.

You don't have to support any charity in particular, you can choose to support 'All Supported Charities'. The money you raise will be apportioned across all the charities on Everyclick.

Everyclick Shop

Am I paying more to shop through Everyclick?

No. Shopping through Everyclick is exactly the same as going directly to the retailer's website.

How much is raised for charity when I shop through Everyclick?

Everyclick shopping allows you to search the product lines of over 3000 merchants and we receive a commission from whichever merchant ends up supplying your order. This is typically around 5% of the total value of the shopping basket and varies a little from merchant to merchant. From a typical shopping basket of around £30, about £1.50 goes to charity.

Currently these commissions are shared between all supported charities proportional to the overall level of activity on the site by their supporters. Very soon, we hope to be able to allocate the whole of the commission from your shopping session to your chosen charity alone.

Once I shop through Everyclick, do all of my purchases at that retailer then generate funds for charity?

As long as you go to the retailer's website via Everyclick Shopping each time, your purchases will generate funds for charity.

We have added some of the most popular shops to my Favourites box on the search results page to make it even easier to shop through Everyclick.

Is shopping through Everyclick secure?

Yes. Everyclick does not collect any credit card information. The entire transaction is carried out through our shopping partner and merchant sites just as if you had gone directly to their website.

Everyclick Sponsorship

How do I set up an appeal?

Setting up an appeal is easy.

  • Sign in to your Everyclick account.
  • Go to 'build my appeal'.
  • Fill out the form making sure the start date and end date reflect the time scale you would like your appeal page to be visible on Everyclick.
  • Click 'save appeal'.

How do I see who has given to my appeal?

There is a full list of donors on your fundraiser page. In addition, if you sign in and go to your My appeals tab you will see the full list of donors and an indication of who has paid.

How can I contact people who owe me money?

On the Manage my appeal tab of your My Everyclick page you can see who has donated and pledged and whether pledges have been paid. You can email either all of your supporters, or just those still owing you money. Just fill in the subject line and message and press the 'Send email' button.

Can I change the charity that my appeal supports?

You can change your supported charity at any time. This will change both your appeal charity and the charity you are supporting through searching.

If you change your charity while you have an active appeal then any donations made from that point onwards will go to your new charity. Previous donations will still go to the original charity. Money resulting from pledges will always go to the charity supported at the time the pledge was made.

Can I set up an appeal and let people choose which charity their money goes to?

Yes you can. In some cases you may want to set up an appeal but let the people supporting you choose which charity their money goes to.

Set up an appeal supporting All Supported Charities - search for All Supported Charities using our charity search and make it your supported charity. Your campaign will then provide your supporters with a search facility to allow them to search for a charity of their choice as part of the sponsorship process. Your fundraiser page will display the amount raised for each charity.

What is the difference between a donation and a pledge?

When you donate to an appeal then you pay straight away. You card is debited immediately.

When you pledge, you promise to pay the money on completion of the appeal. In this case you will receive an email asking you to pay once the appeal is complete. Note that the person setting up an appeal can specify that it is donation-only. In this case pledging will not be an option.

What happens if I've given money to an appeal and it is then abandoned?

If you give money to an appeal that is not completed, then the money will still go to the charity that the appeal supported at the time you made your donation. If you are concerned about giving to an appeal that may not be completed, then consider making a pledge instead, then you can pay after the appeal is completed. Please see our Terms and Conditions for further information.

What happens if I've pledged to an appeal that is supporting a charity that's becomes de-registered?

Occasionally a charity may become de-registered by the Charity Commission. In these cases we are obliged to remove it from the site. Anyone supporting a charity that needs to be removed is emailed and asked to choose another charity. If we are unable to pay the charity before it is closed then our payment partner, Charities Trust will pay the outstanding funds to a charity whose aims match the closed charity as closely as possible.

What happens when my appeal closes?

Once your appeal passes it's close date, then no more sponsorships can be taken. People who have pledged can still pay you after your appeal has closed. Your appeal will stay visible on your page and widget until you decide to archive it.

What happens to my appeal when I archive it?

Once your appeal is archived, it is no longer displayed to the users of the Everyclick site or to yourself. You will not be able to see who has donated once your appeal is archived so ensure that you really have finished with it and have received all outstanding pledges before archiving. You can only have one appeal active at a time so you'll need to archive your old one before setting up a new one.

Archived appeals are not deleted and in a forthcoming release, you will see all of your previously archived appeals from your my Everyclick page.

What is a widget?

Our widget is a small piece of code that you can cut and paste onto another web page, for example a blog page. It's a great way for you and your supporters to tell other people about you and your appeal.

The widget will show people how much you've raised and has a button to allow people to give to your appeal. See your toolkit page.

Everyclick eVouchers

What is an eVoucher?

An Everyclick eVoucher is an electronic equivalent of a paper voucher and is a simple way to give friends a cash gift that they can give to the charity of their choice.

eVouchers are redeemed on Everyclick by the recipient who can choose an charity or appeal to benefit. Recipients can split your gift between any number of charities over a 12 month period.

Everyclick collects Gift Aid where applicable, increasing the value of donations.

How can I resend a voucher if the original email gets lost?

When you buy an eVoucher, an entry representing the purchase appears in the 'my giving' tab on your 'my Everyclick' page. This entry has an option to re-send the voucher to the original recipient.

Does a voucher ever expire?

Everyclick eVouchers have a lifetime of one year from the purchase date. Any money remaining on the voucher after that date will be donated by Everyclick to charity.

Where does the Gift Aid go when I buy a voucher?

The purchaser of an eVoucher can choose to Gift Aid the purchase. The Gift Aid relating the purchase amount is sent to the charities benefitting from the redemption of the voucher in proportion to the amount donated. So, for example, a charity receiving 90% of the voucher value as a donation will also receive 90% of the total Gift Aid.

Can I see what donations I've made?

Provided that you are logged in when you make a donation it is recorded on your 'my giving' tab of your 'my Everyclick' page. Donations made when not logged in are treated as anonymous and cannot be tracked.

Funds

How and when will my charity receive a payment?

Monies are passed to charities monthly once a £15 threshold is reached. Funds are paid directly in to your charity's bank account via BACS. Gift Aid is claimed monthly on qualifying donations and disbursed once Charities Trust receive it from HMRC, typically 5 weeks after claim.

You will be sent an eStatement from Charities Trust. Please contact Nick Croall on 01608 653026 to add or amend your details.

Can monies be paid into a different account?

Monies can only be paid into a legitimate account in the charity's name.

How often is the amount raised updated on the site?

We provide an estimated amount raised every three minutes. All figures are confirmed on a monthly basis at which point any adjustments are made based upon full revenue reports from all advertisers and retailers.

My charity's total raised has suddenly increased. Why?

Now that people can make credit card donations to charities, the most likely reason is that someone has made a donation to your charity. You charity total figure now includes the amount raised by searching and credit card donations.

We've been paid but thought we were due more?

Please note that the sum shown on your Everyclick page is the total amount raised and not the amount currently due. Credit card donations will be subject to our 4.8% administration fee. If you have any further questions about payments please contact Everyclick on 0870 005 5050.

What if our organisation, bank or building society doesn't accept BACS payments?

BACS is used to keep payment costs to a minimum. If your charity has no way of accepting BACS payments please contact Nick Croall on 01608 653026 to arrange an alternative method of payment.
